  1. I havent burned my final output yet, but before I start making coasters, can someone tell me if this seems an ok way of creating and burning my home DVD movies from DV source:

    1) Transfer DV using Ulead Videostudio via firewire to .avi
    2) Open .avi in TMPGEnc and encode video only to .m2v
    3) Open .avi in with virtualDub and save as .wav
    4) Open .wav in FFMPEG and convert to .ac3
    5) Open TMPGEnc and Simple Multiplex .m2v and .ac3
    6) Create menus using TMPGEnc DVD Author
    7) Burn using Nero

final ouput seems ok except for a small green tint towards the bottom of the video. Just wondering if I am missing a step or if I am doing anything redundant. Thanks for any tips!

Not sure about your methodology, but you might try burning to a DVD-rw firdt to test it out. Easy way to avoid costers.

    I don't use any of those S/W.

Why, can't you output seperate streams in TEMPGEnc? You should be able to create a m2v and wav. You can then convert the wav to ac3.

Why do you have to Multiplex the m2v and ac3? Doesn't TEMPGEnc DVD Author except elemental streams? If not then use a Real DVD Authoring App like DVD-Lab.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

.....but before I start making coasters....
    Get a DVD-RW and experiment.
Open .wav in FFMPEG and convert to .ac3
Caution : AC3 may not be acceptable to your player. Works for me though in my Norcent DP300.(mind you for home movies absoulute DVD spec is suggested for future compatability. Therefore use LPCM , less video content - more disks.

In WMP ?? I have seen shitty colors in WMP. Try a different player to confirm it is not the player.
Other than that your steps are OK. Although you may want to consider "frameserving" the edited file from videostudio straight to TMPGEnc.
I don't use DVD author, but DVD lab take elementry streams. The muxing is redundant.
