I have a Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Deluxe which I just tried to install a newer version of the Winfast PVR. The old package file was 40102 and the new one was 40212.
When I tried to install the new version, the install only said maintenance was being carried out. When I restarted the PC and ran the program, there was no icon in the system tray, so I had to use the Icon I have on my desktop. Then I get an error "Unable to find C:\WINDOWS\\WFCFG.DLL" (the extra slash was on the error box) this file was actually located in c:\program files\winfast\wftvfm\ so I copied it across to the Windows directory and it worked fine. But I notieced that when I closed the program, the icon wasn't in the system tray which would indicate that the scheduler is set. I tried to uninstall, which it said it had, then I tried to re-install the previous version. When I ran the setup file it asked if I wanted to uninstall the program. I run this a few times but it still won't uninstall any part of the program.
This happened with the previous version and the only way I could remove it was to reformat the hard drive.
Anyone know how I can remove it to install any working version??? I'm running WinXP

  2. there are a number of specific Uninstall programs which should be able to help. If you go to www.download.com, search on "uninstall" youwil find quite a few there. Many have trial versions which could be al you need.

  3. This happened to me and I'm afraid the only way I could fix it was to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install from scratch.

No need to reformat or d/l a program, open regedit in your run bar and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall
Look for the uninstall line for the winfast pvr program and right click on it and delete, also do an edit/find winfast in regedit and delete the winfast entries you find,be very careful you dont remove any keys that are not part of winfast or you will run into big problems. Also delete the winfast folder that was installed.

Thanks heaps johns0, all went fine.
Since this happened last time I tried to upgrade, It may mean I have to do it all the time. I'll remember to keep the info handy.
