Okay, I need your help.
I'm still new, still haven't burned more than 3 disks (and two f###ing Memorex coasters) with my E50.
I am getting conflicting opinions on the following. Can you clarify?
1.) What is the 'speed' of the E50 units. I called one Panasonic guy and he said it was a 4x unit. I called another service number and they said 1x. Which is it?
2.) If it is a 1x unit, is it safe to use 4x disks. That's all that seems to be around... I've seen a warning on Maxell disks, saying stuff like 'may cause damage to 1x or 2x units'. Now what?
3.) Does where the media is made directly relate to quality? I prefer the thought of made in Japan, but it can be expensive. I know cost and quality aren't directly related, but what about locale of manufacture?
Thanks!

Use the right media, I use Accu dvds, about $60/100.
They write to dvdr at 1x from an external source. This is real time BTW, so whats the point of doing faster than real time? You'd need a time machine.
They dub from the HD to dvdr at 4x I believe according to the other posts.
