You can capture up to 768x576 with Pinnacle PCTV! Use VirtualDub for capturing and turn overlay mode off. Using preview mode you can select resolutions higher than zzz x 288. If your card came with drivers that don't work with VirtualDub try Btwincap drivers (http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/)

Hey, dude. I have the PINNACLE PCTV and I still can't capture even with the BtWinCap drivers. But what is worse - when I installed them even the regular TV channels didn't show - only blue screen. The BtWinCap drivers I should choose PAL system (Europe, Bulgaria) and it doesn't work.

    It works...

When you use btwincap drivers with cards based on bt8xx(x) chips, it is far better to capture through the video in of you card (s-video or composite, depending what you have) and the audio from the line in of your soundcard.
If you try to capture through the tuner, you must be lucky to succeed it. Those drivers are not for the tuner, but for the rest of the hardware. Most users who wish to capture TV with this hardware, are end up using a VCR for feeding the card with channels.

Also, virtualdub works "as is" only on W9X. For win2K and winXP you need some adjustments. Easy ones, but let say this gonna be a future step for a newbie.
So, when you wish to capture using btwincap drivers and a bt8xx(x) chip on w2k or winXP, you use an alternative freeware program called VirtualVCR.

And a good TIP: When you start with this hobby, you read. You read a lot. Guides, posts, anything. Later, you ask to clearify. If you don't follow this learning curve, you end up more confused than when you started with all this.

  5. download the pctv rave drivers from pinnacle website.
thats what i did, and now i can capture 720 x 576 if i want to.
the only downside is that you will not be able to capture directly
to mpeg2 with the rave drivers.
unless you have studio version 5.0 (i think)
    just read here >

The problem is that I can't install the BtWinCap drivers. When i install them I get only blue screen.
