  1. Is there a good way to test a DVD Burn without having to stick the movie in and watching it? I've had some problems with glitches at the end of the movie....i think it's been because of a heavily fragmented HD when i burn.

however, i'd like a way to test the burn so I don't have to watch the end of the movie after each burn. any tips?

btw, i'm using DVDShrink and DVD Decryptor to burn.

    Hey man.
DVDInfoPro has a disc check option that verifys the data on the disc.
I believe you can also check the surface of a disc before burning to make sure there are no faults before writing, but i have never done that.
    Good luck.

Do NOT burn to the edge of the dvdr. If you are backing up movies using dvdshrink, change the max rate in preferences to 4200 or less. If you are doing conversions, make sure your final output is not to the limit of the dvdr.

The reason for this is on cheaper media (and not even cheaper media) the dye gets thin. Thin dye, poor burning.

Your fragmented drive may/will have something to do with it, however when you said the end of the movie, that clinches it for saying not to burn to the edge of the dvdr.

  7. This is weird, I have answered 3-4 posts today regarding discs freezing/skipping towards the end. Each response was "they are riteks". Riteks are known to be a good brand media, but this is a bit odd.

I use every bit available on a DVD and I've never encountered this problem. Guess I'm just "lucky".
