If they say made in Japan.

Also some Fuji +R that are not made in japan are Ricoh.

    Not sure on -Rs.

  3. All the Fujifilm -R's I've bought so far are TY's.
As stated by Flaystus, "If they say Made In Japan", they are most likely TY's.

The DVD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN are Taiyo-Yuden 4x DVD-R discs.

The CD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN are also Taiyo-Yuden but are getting harder and harder to find.

  6. True enough. Best Buy and online are the only places I can get them anymore. They used to be more readily available in retail outlets.

I've noticed that the only FUJI CD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN are small packs. I saw a 10 pack at BEST BUY and a 3 or 5 pack at KMART

It would seem that the bigger packs all pretty much say MADE IN TAIWAN

Thankfully I don't use too many CD-R discs these days.

  10. Interesting. At this point I am still able to buy 50's and 100's of the "Made In Japan" variety at Best Buy. Sounds like that may change in the near future. Time to stock up.

Yes, I would say those are decent prices on that media. Unless you have to pay some gross shipping charges.

  11. how much is it at the best buys?

  12. $30 for 100 cdrs? is too much now, unless you KNOW they are quality (made in japan) All the fuji 100-packs I've seen have been Made Taiwan since October. And before that they were packaged as 2-50 packs to make 100, those were TY's.
Now you can often get 100 of Fuji or other for $5 to $10 after rebate. But they aren't TY's.
For Taiyo Yuden try http://rima.com/ they have them for $28 per 100.
At least you know what you're getting this way.

FYI: Taiyo Yuden DVD-r are still $168 for 100 at rima also.

Or $190 for white/silve injets at Rima.

Made in Taiwan Fuji are ProdiscS03 media. Still great quality, better than Ritek anyway, but if you want the cream of the crop, stick with TYs.

I still remember my first KProbe scans of TY DVD-R and CD-R media Never tried another brand after that.
