I have this avi file that i want to be put on a dvd so i can watch it on my dvd system, i was told to convert it to MPEG2, so i did, i waited 17 hours to find the the final output file was knackered, the audio sounded like it came from a stars wars fight scene and the video was jumpy and squares kept appearing,

to convert the file i used BBMPG (AVI2DVD)

what have i done wrong and is there anyway i can fix this?

    cheers!

p.s. i would be lost without theses forums!

That's why I suggested you use a short sample clip of your source to run a test encode with.

Smash your DVD burner into tiny little pieces and find a new hobby.

I'm not sure I'm following you here. Did you decide to pay for an MPEG2 encoder after your free trial on TMPGEnc ran out or are you still dicking around trying to do it with free stuff?

Good luck with the free stuff if that's the case.

  9. Did you try the VCD route as I suggested in the previous thread?

Sounds to me like you are anyway.
From reading your other posts it sounds to me like you've no intention of helping yourself.
Everyone needs a helping hand but you take it to the extreme.
If you can't follow the simple TMPGEnc guide and all the extensive, helpful and friendly advice that many people have given you then you should give up now.
You don't help yourself and then you bitch about it.
Smashing your burner is the best advice you've ever had.

The latest version of TMPGEnc (shown in the screenshot someone very kindly took the trouble to post) is the simplest process there is.
You simply select either the final bitrate size (which determines the final mpeg size) or you set the % of disk you want to fill.
I normally choose 95%, I'm funny like that.

How did you create your initial avi file?

Did you capture it or rip it?

    What the hell is it?

If you can't follow these simple steps, instead preferring to bitch about people getting frustrated when you don't make any effort to learn then you've be better off somewhere else.
This is a free forum, people help you out of the goodness of their heart and I doubt your whining and complaining isn't appreciated by those that have taken the time to help you.

    Hi,

    We should all read my long post in the following thred;

Will Hay knows which one i mean.

Those with more experience and knowledge are here to share it with and advise those with less experience.

    However there are limits.

Squid_uk - you talk as if you need to be taken through every single step of every single part of every single action. There is a limit to how much you can be told or given, you have to make some effort yourself.

We can chop the food up for you, but we cant eat it for you as well.

    Try reading the guides.

Try searching for similar discussion threads.

Try help facilities in the programs.

Try the manufactureres / writers website.

    Try asking nicely

Try acting on the advice you are given.

DONT just give up as soon as you get the remotest of problems, TRY AGAIN, maybe you typed wrong or misread the instructions.

DONT bitch at those trying to help, they are helping because they want to, not because they have to.

Okay, now you need to remove the reference to the movie title before you get a warning.
Oh, and go read the AUP.

I really hope that nobody offers this fella any other help, the stupidity of the man beggars belief. If he's downloading warez let him sort it out on his own
