HELP PLEASE..Burner wont write

Here is one of MANY problems..lol
I have a memorex 2x2x24 rewritable....I have burned copies, and also data, mp3..ect all before..now all of a sudden it will only burn audio..I cant get it to burn data..well it looks as if its burning..but when i go to view it..the computer cant find it..its blank, however when i go to retry with the same disk..EVERY burning program..Nero, NTI..ect tells me its not a blank, and i cant use it.
This is very frustrating, and i havent found any answers yet..Please help, before I take a hammer to it..

Like all things that move, spin, go beep. it is most likely just worn out. My old HP did the same thing, it is now landfill. Get ya self a new burner.

JUST IN CASE.......... make sure you have no conflicts . Installing different burning software on your machine may interfere with each other. make sure IDE cable is secure. Give it a good cleaning (blow dry air across laser) to rem
ove any dirt !

Now go get a hammer.
