  1. Any opinons about DVD X Copy Platinum? Am not happy with CloneDVD and what to find something else? Getting confused because of the wide discrepancies of opinions for all these different programs.

Try DVDShrink, it's free and is much better IMO than DVD X Copy Platinum.

  3. I have DVDXcopy Platinum and I rarely use it. There are features that are greyed out and not available. What are those TDB or whatever they are? I DO like DVDXcopy GOLD to backup the DVD to two discs and I use DVDShrink for compressing DVD content to one disc. I know, the Platinum will compress, and will also do the two disc backup, BUT it doesnt work as often nor as relaibly as GOLD and the free DVDShrink. I have had instances when Platinum will hang during the process and then I have to use GOLD or DVDShrink.

  4. Xcopy products keep track of what you copy so you have to be on the net when you use them. Did you see that article at cdfreaks.com about a guy they turned in for piracy?

  6. That's not true. I use dvd x copy products all the time and you don't have to be on the internet to use them. It is true that it will check for updates while connected to the internet, but I use my laptop which has no internet connection and it works fine. like Gold better Platinum is still a little buggy.

  7. Now that 321 Studios has been ordered to stop selling DVD backup software within 7 days, Id say we wont be seeing Platinum reaching a mature state.

Personally, I have used the entire XCopy suite but still wouldn't recommend it over DVD Shrink. There aren't any additional requirements for DVD Shrink over XCopy, so the fact it is free and gives you much, much more control over what you are ripping and compressing is what wins me over. Also, in most instances DVD Shrink comes out with a bit better quality, especially for longer movies.

  9. My question is why would anyone with at least half a brain actually pay money for software that helps you copy DVDs?
