I'm trying to capture video from my camcorder, and I'm brand new to this game. Everything seems to make sense with the Dazzle DVC 80 & DVD Complete, but I can't get any audio. There is no audio when I preview, no audio while capturing, no audio after encoding, no audio anywhere. The sound continues to come out of my camcorder, but it is like some setting somewhere is blocking the audio that I'm trying to capture along with my video. As I said, I'm brand new to this ... can someone please offer any hints? Thank You!

Okay, how is audio upposed to get to your computer? Is the audio plugged from your camera in to your Dazzle, then run into your system, or straight into your system? Is your recorded audio set to receive your audio through the proper post (line in, mic, etc.)?

The audio runs from my camcorder - to the Dazzle DVC 80 - then to the USB input on my computer. In the recording properties options on my computer, I have "line-in" checked. I am trying to do this for the first time & I'm sure that I'm missing something very basic. Thank you very much for helping me!

I do not know if the encoder you use works the same as mine does, but my USB encoder needs a line in input. That is, I must run an audio cord from my source into my line in port to capture audio.

I went to the Dazzle / Pinnacle site and found this related article concerning no-audio during capture with the DVC-80.

    http://www.pinnaclesys.com/wwwsupport/InteractiveSupport/us/frameset.htm?

But according to this article if you play the captured clip in Windows Media Player, or some other player, you should then have audio. So this may not help you. The Dazzle / Pinnacle knowledge data base at http://www.pinnaclesys.com/wwwsupport/InteractiveSupport/us/frameset.htm? may provide some help for you.

Good luck and keep searching and asking ... the solution is out there ... all you have to do is find it.

Hmm ... this Dazzle DVC 80 accepts the video & audio from my camcorder (the white, red, and yellow cables) and tells me to just connect the from there to the USB input on my computer. I'm kind of confused how/where I could feed another audio line. What am I missing? Thanks, Tommy.

Could you try to post that first link for the DVC 80 audio problem again ... I think that the second link got posted twice inadvertantly & I'd love to read that thread? Thanks for your help! I'm not giving up.

Do I need to somehow split the red & white audio cables coming from my camcorder so that they can connect to the Dazzle DVC 80 AND to a line-in input on my computer? Thank you!

I read the specs on your encoder, and it does not need audio input into your computer. You are right, audio goes in through the USG port, so the problem is in your setup, or even worse, in your hardware. Have you checked all your connections?

Yes, all the connections are secure. I'm telling you though ... the fix for this is going to be some very basic thing that I just don't see. This is NOT my area of expertise, and I'm sure that I just need to change some setting somewhere to allow for the audio to be read from the right place. I just don't even know where to look & what to look for. Thanks!

Edit: I just saw the link, rkr1958 ... I'll check it out right now. Thanks!

Problem solved! Went to Comp USA for a little help. The guy behind the counter said that many users have had audio problems with this Dazzle DVC 80. He suggested a separate cable to connect the audio from my camcorder directly to my computer (sound familiar, Tommyknocker?). I tried it out for $3 & captured the audio ... just burned my first home DVD. Thanks to Tommyknocker & rkr1958 for helping me out!

I'm not at home, so I don't have the cable in front of me, but it is a very standard cable. One end has a single jack to be inserted into my line-in input on my PC. The other end has 2 inputs to accept the red & white audio jacks from my camcorder. Good luck!

    Byrdman,
The cable is pretty standard and can be picked up at your local Radio Shack also. You are looking for a 1/8" stereo plug to RCA plugs.

  15. Thanks Heyjjjaded and Mikev,
I had seen those cables before, now i know what they were for.
Talking to some one who's "been there, done that" always helps.
