    Does anybody know what software is ripping or creating 492 & 542 KBPS MP3's? Is this all hardware based(sound card) or is there a software?

    Those are variable bitrate (VBR) mp3s. The highest bitrate allowable for mp3 is 320 if I'm not mistaken. Whatever you're using to determine the bitrate is giving you false results.

    I recommend using Exact Audio Copy (secure mode) coupled with Lame Encoder (3.92x) using "--r3mix" settings for best VBR results.
