I believe that you could get a JVC HD tape recorder to record HDTV but no DVD recorders yet will record HD. For the time being what I do to watch regular DVD movies at 720p is I bought the Bravo D1 DVD player which is DVI enabled with a built in "Sima" scaler. http://www.vinc.com/product.asp?id=31&PID=21

There are also Hard Disk recorders (like TiVo) that can record HDTV. I know Zenith has one for terrestrial antenna, and Dish Network has one for their satellite service.
