  1. I downloaded a movie, and it subtitled but instead of the subtitles being on the video it came with a subtitle file with the same name. The problem is i cant get it to play with the subs. and eventually i am giong to put it on dvd how will i add the subs then.

  2. depending on what it is or you should be able to convert the subtitle file for one of the authoring programs to be able to except. since its download i am guessing its xvid dvix etc. so you will to convert that also...

  3. You need to use a player that loads both the video and the subtitles. There are a few, but I don't know them by name, I seem to remember seeing some discussion/programs about this at www.doom9.org but that's about all in the way of direct help I can give you.

    Worst case you can use VDub to output a new file with the subs included in the video

    ...or you could use DirectVobSub if the subs are in .idx/.sub format. This works with any AVI player. idx/sub is (together with .srt) very easy to convert to .sup which is the sub format for IfoEdit when you author your DVD.

  5. ok i got it to play on my computer and thank you for that, but how do i put it on dvd. when i put it in TMPGEnc to convert it, it has no subtitles

    Use TMPGEnc (or other encoder of choice) to encode video to DVD spec m2v
    Encode audio to AC3 with ffmpeggui
    Convert subtitles to .sup (you've still not told us the format of the subs you have!) with srt/sub2sup
    Author with IfoEdit
    Make image with imgtools Classic
    Burn with DVDDecrypter.
