Ok, I'd like to thank all you beta testers who submitted bug reports and crash logs for getting us to this point in a timely manner. We've got most of the bugs under control, including all crashing problems (we think). New features include displaying the total size of the DVD, the appending of text to certain types of extractions' output filenames, and a version optimized for the G5 (10.3.x only). The output filename appending feature works like this: Depending on the type of extraction, text will be added to the filename, so that successive extractions won't overwrite each other. For example, 'Complete Disc' mode doesn't add anything to the filename, 'Main Feature' mode will have the word 'Mainfeat' added to the name, 'Title Set' mode will have 'TS(#)' added, 'Title' mode will have 'T(#)', and chapter mode will have 'T(#) (C(#) to C(#))' added. You can grab version 1.0 here:

http://homepage.mac.com/wiseweasel/mactheripperg5.dmg (MacOS X 10.3.x G5 version)
Please let us know if you have any problems with MTR 1.0 in this thread.

nice works fellas -
Yes, thank you Geezerbuttz for all your very hard work on this project. We'd be curious to know if the G5 version is any faster than the regular 10.3.x version for you G5 owners. My pet theory is that the process is mostly limited by your drive speed, and this will not make much of a difference if any, but I'd love to be proved wrong. Let us know what you find out.

Are we free to distribute this as is or link to on our websites?
-
Hmmm, that's a good question. I guess the best thing for now would be to just link to this thread, in addition to the 3 versions released, until we find a good host somewhere protected from the DMCA. You can go ahead and distribute it freely to people you know, but you might want to make sure they are aware of this thread until we get a website going, so that they are kept aware of progress and updates. I don't want this getting well-known until we can find a hosting solution. Once we do, I'll submit to VersionTracker and MacUpdate, and you can do whatever you want. For now, we'll have to keep it kinda underground. If any of you know of any way to host this in a DMCA-safe manner, that would be helpful.

Wise will relase a minor bug fix to the code later...Nothing to drastic, but should fix problems with some disks with irregular sizes, and structures.

We've posted a new revision today, with a minor fix for a problem that would stop MTR from working if the DVD had certain sizes. There is no new revision number, as the change was very minor, but the usual links now point to the fixed version, modified 2-11-04. Go grab your copies here:

please please please forgive me if this has been answered before - - - i have read the other 2 hades threads and didn't see this asked - - - you know how when using dvdbackup/0sex in the past sometimes you had to run the dvd in dvdplayer before ripping to get the keys/nudge the ripper/whatever? - - - do you have to do the same thing with mtr ever, or on occasion? - - - and does mtr tell you if a rip fails with regard to the encryption scheme?? - - - tia!!
btw, i have used mtr with and w/o the dvdplayer method noted above on several discs -- all without fail -- i'm loving mtr but i just wanna be sure i won't be blindisided.

Using videolan to play that Frida disc, there was an error message of video leak and has sound but no video.
The disc played fine in a panasonic xp 50 dvd player. -
You could always try YadeX or OSEx, but I think that copy of Frida is not going to work for you.
