I have a new Macnotebook, with Imovie HD and Imovie 08. Also dled ffmpegx for encoding. Is there anyway to frameserve from either of these apps to ffmpegx? I find the iMovie 08 diabolical with that media export function, though I like the overall simplicity and ease of the app.

open your .imovieproject in Finder (contextual menu: open contents of bundle), you will find folders, one of them is /Shared/iDVD/ and contains a .mov file)
give the .mov file to a software.
    and Imovie 08.
iMovie08 needs a "temporary" file: an export.

I dislike this app , result is poor with my DV camcorder and ugly too with the HD cam of my brother. I just use iMovieHD (it doesn't reduce quality during import/export )

Getting Error:Cannot open Movie stream. Any pointers. All looks good, I found the .mov file. Have iMovie and iDVD open. Place in ffmpegx. Encode. Then get error message.

  5. your .mov file can be opened in QuickTime Player without error?

Got it working. I must have used settings initially that it did not like. But all is good now. Very fiddly, but saves having to have an intermediate file. Export straight from the timeline to any format. Great.
