  1. what gives the better quality for DVD9 TO DVD5?
    Instant copy or the combination of DVD2SVCD and CCE?

    Though it is only really noticeable if the movie needs a lot of compression or was starved of bitrate in the 1st place.

    Programs I use:
    PowerDVD: run the DVD for a few before ripping it
    SmartRipper: ripping tool
    DVD2AVI: makes a .d2v file for tmpegenc
    TMPGEnc: To encode to DVD mpeg-2
    TMPEG DVD Author: to author it to DVD vob files
    Nero 6.3: to burn

    picture comes our PERFECT! although it is a lot more steps then say DVD2ONE or so... but in my eyes its worth taking the extra time to make that much better quality videos. they appear virtually identicle to the original DVD
