  1. Well hi if anyone knows something about ifoedit it is probably more than i do. I own a 2 dvds. The dvds contain 3 series 2gb each so in order to have decent quality i am going for 2 series on 1 dvd. I tried that vobedit program by joining the vobs. But the thing after joining the Vobs how is it possible for me to keep the subtitles?? Is there a way i can edit the original ifo instead of creating a new one? When i opened the original ifo I tried double clicking some options(sound video id etc) to change them in IFOedit but it wouldn't let me. when i move the original Ifo files in the NEW JOINED (by vobedit) vob folder only one part plays or sometimes nothig plays. It is in foreigh language so keeping the subtitles is critical. If anyone knows maybe something about this feel free to comment i will take whatever i can get and then will go from there. thanks a lot

  2. well there's a simpler way of reauthoring dvd's.

I would use dvd decrypter to rip the dvd and save the files to two different folders on your hd.

open up the first dvd folder using dvd shrink and choose to reauthor.
you'll see the main movie titles on the right and a dvd folder on the left side.
all you have to do is drag and drop the titles you want over to the left, under the dvd folder.
    then, click backup
once dvdshrink is done, burn the newly created files.

hope that makes sense. for more info check the guides on how to reauthor dvd's using dvdshrink.

  3. Hi thanks for the reply but the thing is i need to combine 2 series of films from 2 different dvds. From 2 to 1. That is why i was using vobedit and ifoedit. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Also what do you guys think of 8gb dvds? I am considering those if this method will not work.
    thanks

I find dafreak's suggestions correct. I too understood that you want to put the contents of 2 DVDs into one DVD and what dafreak suggested was exactly that.

However I didn't get the need for DVDdecrypter.

You can do it with DVDShrink only, by using its Reauthor mode.
    1. On the first disk, keep only the needed audio and/or subtitle language(s) and rip the movie titles into a folder on your harddisk (say for example: C:\Temp\DVD1).
    2. Do the same for the second DVD, but rip it into a DIFFERENT folder (say, for example: C:\Temp\DVD2).
    3. Always in Reauthor mode, open the folder C:\Temp\DVD1 on the right pane, and then drag the titles onto the left pane.
    4. Right click on each title on the left pane and Set the default Audio and the default Subtitle to the desired language(s).
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the folder C:\Temp\DVD2 (don't worry about the names of the titles. DVDShrink will distinguish titles with common names by putting a counter to their end).
    6. Select the DVD entry of the tree on the left pane (root entry) and set the desired compression on the right pane.
    7. Now, Backup your compilation. If you used a large compresion you may also consider enabling the Deep Analysis thing in DVDShrink's Backup settings (it will give better quality but it will also extend the time-length of the process).

You'll end up with one disk containing the contents of the 2 original disks. Additionally, each title will start up with the default Audio and Subtitles langiage(s) you specified inside DVDShring (the right-click tip, mentioned in step 4).

As dafreak said, there are many excellent guides for DVDShrink (I especially like the ones available in SWF/Flash format). The one you need, is that with the word "Compilation" in it (or something like that).

    Best regards...

PS. All the above hold for DVDShrink 3.1.3 (I haven't used any other version... I'm fresh new to DVD ripping!)
