  1. The ones I captured with the PVR-250 card and the Instant DVD device are OK but the ones captured via Firewire/MPEG-2 software encoding in Ulead DVD MovieFactory are reported as being "Illegal" and crash the program. The weird thing is that I've successfully authored DVDs using files captured via Ulead DVD MF. Any ideas?

Did you verify that it is creating valid DVD files, and that the resolutions and audio are OK (like at 720x480 or 352x240 mpeg-2, with 48 Khz audio, etc)?

Yep. All the settings are correct and the resulting file is fine and can be used to make DVDs. Just wondering why PVA says they're illegal.

Program, I believe, but I'll double check when I get home.

  6. Update: The problem is with files created with LPCM audio only. Files created with MP3 audio (384Kbps) can be read just fine.

    Still wondering why though.
