  1. USV5 crashes without an error message when I try to split a MPEG (1 or 2) or create a MPEG (1 or2). It was working fine prior to installing a Sony DVD burner with Sonic MyDvd software. I have tried uninstalling the new software and re-installing USV5. I have tried re-installing XP without uninstalling XP (bad idea).

    Post 1:

Video Studio 5 SE was working fine until I installed a Lacie DVD burner and some software that came with it.
Now, when I try to "make a movie" and choose PAL DVD and click OK Video Studio just disappears.
I've monitored it using FileMon and it's loading GoMoP4.dll from Sonic-MyDVD.
On another computer which works OK, it loads lsxmpxp3.dll instead.
I've tried uninstalling MyDVD and UVS5 then reinstalling UVS5 but it still crashes.
    Any ideas?

    Post 2:

    I fixed it last night.
One of the packages I installed had a different gomotion.dll
This was causing the crash, not when it was loaded, but when mpeg creation was started.
I used Filemon from www.sysinternals.com to see what files were being used.

How do I point USV5 to the correct gomotion.dll? Are there any other solutions?

  3. MyDVD uses the Ligos encoder which interferes with Uleads encoder.Ligos is almost impossible to get rid of because it embeds itself all over your registry, search in explorer for "Ligos" and 'Sonic" and delete all entries.

  4. Thanks for the help. None of the solutions resolved my problem so I decided to do a core load (reformat the hard drive and start from scratch). I have the software working and am in the process or restoring my machine (re-loading software).

  5. I would recommend that you upgrade to version 7.0 of Ulead VideoStudio:

    http://www.ulead.com/vs/runme.htm

Version 7.0 features a vastly improved interface and utilizes the new Ulead MPEG.Now codec, which is based on the MainConcept SDK.

Version 5.0 utilizes the old Ligos codec.
