  1. anyone knows the resolution and bitrate the digital cable and satellite companies are using?? ( im talking the standart TV, not HDTV). I did some research and found out sometimes they try to squeze as many channels as they can in their bandwidth by lowering the resolution/bitrate..
Dishnetwork or comcast don't have this information in their website, their tech support guys dont seem to know it either.
    Thanks

  2. I'm not sure what the actual bitrate is, but I know that DirecTV uses a higher bitrate on the movie channels like Starz and HBO than it does on, say, Discovery Channel. I saw the figures once and it seems to me it's in the 6 - 8 Mbps range for the movies. I could be wrong, as my memory isn't perfect

  3. I had both. DirecTV does look a little better than Dish.

  4. The bitrate and resolution will vary from service to service, from channel to channel within each service and even from day to day.

Could not have said it better.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.
