  1. My system configuration.

    - CPU: AMD XP 2600+
    - Mother Board: Elite K7AMA(Ali Magic 1645&1535D chipset) with onboard audio
    - Memory: 1G PC2100
    - HardDisk: Seagate 80G 7200rpm UATA5 Dedicated for capturing
    - OS: WinXP SP1
    - Capture Card: AverMedia DVD Ezmaker PCI

I use Svideo on EzMaker for video input and onboard linein on otherboard for audio input. I try to capture home video from Sony Hi-8 camcorder.

I use iuVCR to capture 720x480 with Huffyuv codec. The CPU utilization is only about 30% and there is no frame drop reported by iuVCR after 10 minutes capturing.

But I noticed that the averagr frame rate reported by iuVCR is about 27 frame per second and when I play the captured avi file I noticed that the video is not smmoth and there is jumpping in the picture especially when scene changes fast on original tape.

I believe that frame rate for NTSC video is 29.97 and I set it correctly in iuVCR. I wondering why the result is 27 (It is not always 27, it varies from 26.6 to 27.5).

Does anyone have same experience and I wonder what I should do in order to capture video with correct frame rate.

  2. Further investigation about my previous issue.

I found that when capturing 352x240, I get 29.97fps no matter what codec I use. But I can not get 29.97fps when I try to capture 720x480, I never get 29.97 even CPU usage is only 30%. I started wondering that this is related with the EzMaker capturing board.

Can anyone give me some hint on this? I noticed that lots of posting described that 720x480 29.97 fps can be achieved even with machine that is not as fast as what I have.

Try a different source. Cable TV or anotehr video source. This si to eliminate the camera as the problem.

Did you install the BTWIN drivers? They don't work for my Athlon (I get locked into PAL resolutions).

Try 704x480 ( a valid DVD resolution ) and see what you get. Also try 640x480 and see if the problem persists (not DVD, but you can re-size during encoding).

  4. Gazorgan,

THank you very much for your suggestions. I will try your suggestions. I also called AverMedia for help and their customer service really doesn't give any help.

The EzMaker PCI I am using uses NEC7130 chipset, not BT878 chipsets. So BTWin driver should npt be used right?

  5. Hello All,

I am having the same issue as mykiki. Here are my specs:

    Athlon XP 3200+
    1GIG PC3200
    A7N8X-E
    WD SATA 120GIG Drive
    Avermedia EZMaker PCI (NEC1370 Chipset)
    ATI 9800 Pro

I cannot for the life of me capture at a constant 29.97 fps at 720x480 with any tool.(iuvcr, virtualvcr, virtualdub (never could get it too work) iuvcr usually goes down to 22-24 fps, and virtualvcr says it is capturing at 30fps, but I have lots of dropped frames I can't even caputre 360x480 at 29.97 fps!!!!!

I have used nerodvd, and i guess the video is ok, but the audio is horrible (it sounds very digitized).

I am pulling my hair out. I have even lowered my resolution to 1024x768, but that still did not resolve the issues.

    Please, any help?

  6. Since there are so many posibitive reviews for this capture card, I guess that experience kbonnel and I are having is because of the chip set 1370. Can any body share experience for using this capturing card? I especially want the know if this is because of the card or my system configuration.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. from inside iuvcr, remove huffyuv codec and record a clip to see if that helps.

Also download media player classic to play back your avi file from above.
