  1. Does anyone know if the AC-3 plugin will convert all audio to ac-3 format? I want to make sure the BGM I use on menu pages also is ac-3 format, so it will play on any player.

    Thanks

I have the AC-3 plugins, however I never tried to used other format than AC-3 for the background sound, but the following settings might indicate that is is possible...

The newest TDA with the AC-3 plugin ... I guess will convert the LPCM audio to AC-3 ... judging by the screenshot I see up above.

But I've got the older one ... the one about 2 weeks ago. And my DVD compliant Mpg-2 video files ... already have AC-3 audio.

But when TDA was finished ... the audio in my chapters/menus ... was LPCM.

But in my environmental settings ... it only shows MP2 audio ... it doesn't address LPCM.

So ... I guess ... I need to update my AC-3 plugin ... if I want AC-3 audio for my menus too.

But ... yes ... as I am choosing what parts of the video I want to create chapter points ... if I hit the > play button ... I do hear the audio in the video.

Just authored a disc with latest version of TDA and plug-in. The menus remained LPCM. However, the source material was already AC3 so that may have had something to do with it.

Does your environmental settings show the same info as "Beldvd" post above ???

Would really be nice to have the background videos in my menus and the chapter menus using AC-3 audio instead of LPCM audio.

I use InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 ... to convert my videos to DVD Compliant Mpg-2 videos ... AC-3 audio is one of three choices.

I confirm: the audio in menus is (L)PCM even with "my" settings. The source vobs I used to create the background menus were encoded in AC-3

I wonder why ... the audio in the menus gets converted to LPCM audio.

AC-3 is smaller ... uses less space.
