  1. I just wanted some opinions. I have been practicing for my SAT1 test for college admission. I keep scoring right around 1150-1180, is that a good score overall? The highest I ever got was 1320 but mostly I get mid 1100 area. Penn State McKeesport looks for 970-1150 as the level most of their freshman have.

    That's fine. I scored 1280 my first and only time.

  3. Anything above 1300 when I was in high school (1990) was considered the fast lane to all but the very best colleges. The average SAT1 scores are currently 507 verbal and 519 math.

    Can't speak for myself. I got a full scholarship on just one ACT test score. If you nail either test just once, you're in as good as shape as you can be, socioeconomical status notwithstanding of course.

  5. Well...

    I took the test as a junior and got a 27.

    * No studying,
    * No pre-ACT classes,
    * Got ripped the night before,
    * Showed up hungover,
    * Finished 30 minutes early,
    * Fell asleep.

    I never had test anxiety in school.

    I would wager anything above 1200 is pretty good
    high class schools will require higher scores
    the whole idea of SAT is totally stupid if you ask me. How much can you know when you are in highschool... nothing!

    i got in the 1250 range... and that doesnt mean jack to me now. Worry about the LCAT, GMAT, MCAT, CCAT etc these actually mean something

    MCAT was my big worry... but I am glad that baby is over with

    Depends on your field of study. I thought my calling was a professor of Russian and Soviet history, so a university degree was absolutely essential. Unfortunately, I leaned a little too far right for the calling.

    Then again, I worship nuclear weapons. What do I know?

    If you want to go to penn state, I'd say you're in good shape. I remember taking a practice test and it was harder than the actual thing. I think I got a 1250 on the practice and a 1410 on the actual test. So keep that in mind.

    The SAT was a cakewalk: 1600 the only time I took it and I only think I was a little lucky

    The ACT pissed me off but I still scored 34 on it. Aced the math and English portions, but reading on a time limit kinda bugged me and some of the science questions I had were so vague it made my laugh.

    All the good test scores did for me was get obnoxious think-tank recruiters on my case, but on the plus side I did get to skip a lot of math and English courses and still got credit for them

    Yeah and the campus I want has a slightly lower score as well so that should help me. They say the 2/3 of the call for admittance is made on 9-11th grade GPA which for me would be all B's and A's and they say the average GPA for freshman is 2.82(Dont know what that roughly quates to).

    They say letters of recommendation are also helpful, I can get a really good one from an ex boss that I worked as a contract programmer for(I am going for their CS program) and he is an alum of not only penn state but of that campus

    This site has all the stats for their scores on SATs

    I went late, so I couldn't finish the first English section in the time limit, but I still managed to pull off a 1380. Doesn't matter, though. I dropped out of college after one semester.

    Down with skool!
