Help - my video brightness is messed up.

I just installed Tmpgenc Author. Somehow it changed my video monitor's
brightness to where I can not even hardly see anything on the screen it is
so dark. I pushed the button on the outside of my monitor to increase the
brightness. It is now viewable but even at 100% brightness it is still
dark. Did Tmpgenc change some setting in the Registry or someone else? I uninstalled Tmpgenc Author and re-booted but no change.
I go into Control Panel, Display, Setting, Advanced, Color tab and adjust the Brightness, but this is still not right. There must be somewhere else that was affected. Any ideas?
I am running Windows 98SE and an ATI Radeon 9000 video card. Help!!!
