  1. Hey all. I have a fresh install of Windows XP w/SP1. What is the best driver combo for this card. Catalyst, WDM, MMC. I figure the catalyst drivers have nothing to do with capturing. However, I see LordSmurf uses MMC 8.1. What WDM drivers do you all use? Lastest, the one that came with MMC 8.1, which? How about the control panel? I'm using an AIW 8500dv. Thanks for your help.

I use both 8.1 and 8.7 ... for drivers, I use stuff from early 2003 ... no need to upgrade for me.

I'd use newest drivers and then ATI MMC 8.1 to 8.7 ... not 8.8

  3. In my last system I ran an 8500DV and liked MMC 8.6 full set. (cat and wdm). These are available at ATI. I tried most every version and that one gave me the lowest CPU usage and the most consistant AVI capture framerate.

On this system I'm running v8.5 and it's the only version of mmc I can remember that gives me 720x480 avi capture settings. 704 was all I could ever select before and for 720 I had to edit the registry, but 8.5 has given me 720 as an option. Yea..... And the AVI framerate is solid on 29.970 everytime in MMC.

    Good luck.
