Can't play dvd-r in burner?

I just backed up "Finding Nemo". It does not play in my stand alone player as it sticks and hangs when jumping through the chapters. I understand that my Electrohome dvd player has trouble with almost all brands of dvd-r's. But when I tried to skip through the chapters in PowerDVD with the dvd-r in the drive that burnt it, freeze up occurs around chapter 14. Why can't this disc be read properly from the drive that created it?
This dvd-r thing is discouraging. Way more trouble than cd-r's.

what type of media are you using?

Copy the disc to your hd and play it again in PowerDVD. If you get the same skip it's probably your process. If it plays ok then it's probably the media. You could also try another software DVD player like windvd or even the free wmp clone called media player classic.

I can't copy the disc to the hd as I get the following error:
"Cannot copy VTS_01_4: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

That would explain your problem then.

Reburn with different media, try a slower speed if it happens again.
