I was using a sony dvd-rw 1x in my pioneer a06 drive while using windvd recorder to record directly to the dvd-rw. Whne you stop recording it automatically ejects the disc ready to be viewed in your dvd player. Well I was capturing at 720x480 but after recording for maybe 10 seconds I realized I wanted to cap at 352x480. So I stoped recording and when the disc came out I got a blue screen of death talking about error's at 0000:ef whatever whatever. Now when I put the disc back in it reads as an audio cd that's 1.99 gigs with no space remaining. I used a few different programs to do a full erase of it, but it still reads as an audio cd with 1.99 gigs and no space free. any ideas on how to fix this please? thanks

DVDInfo has a better then average erasing function

You might just try to record over the disk and let the record function overwrite......often that's better then erasing beforehand.
the max 2gb read sounds like fat32....r u using Win98 as operating system? -
First off I wouldn't be so dismissive of blue screens. A BS can be an indicator of a badly damaged operating system or application.
At a minimum I would: Uninstall the application and re-install.
Run your Windows recovery disk and do a repair(this will check for missing or damaged system files.)
Find your Dr Watson.log file and using web resources analyize the contents of the file.(this will tell you exactly what went wrong).
You may of course ignore all this and simply erase the DVD-RW.
But then its your system. -
I'm using windows ME. I tried recording over it as well as erasing it and it still reports the same thing. It's an audio cd that's 1.99 gigs. I dunno what is up with this?

No, your disc isn't ruined.
I've had a similar experience twice where a disc wouldn't erase. I just kept trying all the different applications on my computer, till I found one that finally erased it. I forget what program actually worked to erase it - I think it was Ulead DVD Movie Factory possibly.
Just keep trying every program you can get your hands on - eventually one will work. -
TMPGEnc DVD Author 's erase function is pretty good(30day trial). My best one is the one in my B's Recorder Gold software....but it's not free as far as I know...

You are all correct. I simply assumed that anyone still using the older windows is not going to upgrade. As MS dicovered recently over 25% of their customers are using older versions of Windows. That aside, if you are going to keep using the older versions then get familar with reading dr watson logs. I have never believed in the re-boot and go on methods. I believe that you must understand what is happening in the operating system or suffer the results.
Therefore do the research and learn WHY you get BS. Then you can adjust the system parameters to minimize them.
