I haven't done much with firewire yet so I'm just looking into a card and and enclosure for an external HD and an ADVC-100 in the future. I'm seeing both 1394 and 1394a though and I'm not real sure what the difference is between the two. I know 1394b is the new firewire with higher transfer rate, but the other two I'm not having much luck finding out about. various cards are either one or the other and most enclosure seem to list as just 1394. any suggestions on what to get? and anyone have a link to someplace that has cards with a VIA chipset? most of the ones I'm finding are TI and I know the ADVC-100 has issues with TI chipsets.
