Well I just made 2 coasters last nite using Nero 6. Backup 3 movies but wasted two DVD+Rs. All disks came from the same batch (same box of 5 actually). 1st time I had this prob with these memorex disks (RICOHJPNR01), I've used over 50 of them so far with no prob's and last nite was the 1st time I made coasters using Nero with these Memorex disks. Could I have screwup some Nero setting so the prog dont finalize the disks? I was using Nero earlier to backup some DVD data disks so could it be some settings was set up wrong. Funny is that after a reboot Nero burned OK, but fails on a second burn, but after another reboot, everything works fine again, so far. Just starting to have this prob with Nero 6 since last upgrade. Is there some bug or prob with the newest nero 6. Used a Plex 708 burner. Sorry for post if this a known prob...just dont want to make any more coasters if this is a known Nero 6 prob, hate to have to switch to another burning sw since I been using Nero for a long time.

Or is it a firmware issue.

upgraded Plex 708 to firmware 1.04....could this be the prob?

Every things works fine when using CloneDVD to burn.

  2. I used Nero Vision Express (latest upgrade) to fix up some home video and then burned them on to a DVD +R using NEC ND2500. The disc works fine on my computers DVD-Rom drive but if I try to play it on my other DVD player (Philips 728) nothing happens

I then made a copy to my hard-drive and used CloneDVD to burn it to disc and it works fine (on both players).

Anyone know if there is a problem with Nero 6?

  3. That sounds very similar to a problem I had.

I burned a new DVD using NeroVision Express and it is not readable in 3 different DVD players (Panasonic SC-HT75; Panasonic DMR-E50; Grundig GDV 100D0). The menu displays and functions fine, but I can't play the title. It does play fine on the computer. Further, Nero Recode 2 will not read the files and gives me the following message:

"Nero Recode 2 encountered an error and cannot continue.
Encoding error - illegal program state occured".

    and then hangs.

    Here is what I did:

I used Nero Recode 2 to take a title from a DVD and create a Nero Digital title. (I had to do this because every other tool only lets me read the first 10 seconds of each VOB file).

I then imported that title into NeroVision Express and edited it, added chapters and menus and burned a disk in my Pioneer DVR-S606 recorder.

I have now burnt three disks with different settings and none of them are readable in the devices listed above. I believe the problem must be with the encoding by NeroVsion Express because of the error message I got from Nero Recode 2.

I raised a tech support problem to Ahead on Jan 11 and they still haven't bothered to get back to me.

Like you did with CloneDVD, I user Nero Burning ROM to copy the discs and they work fine. However, I can't copy the discs I burnt with Burning ROM. Go figure.

I think there are major problems with Nero 6! I'm now sorry I did the honest thing and paid for a copy. Their tech support is appalling.
