    Hi guys,

I have a ?. I have a mpeg2 that I want to convert to iso files. I have tried Tmpgenc dvd author to do it and I started it last night at 10:00 pm and when I got up this morning at 6:00 am it was only 4% done. Is there another program I can do that with. I use nero 6.3 and I would like to just burn the iso without having to reauthor. I would appreciate any help.

  2. I didn't undertand quite well what you're trying to do, but I guess that VCDEasy would solve you problem. It makes a bin file of the VCD or SVCD, and then you just have to burn it or save it, it's up to you.

    keckrodrigues,

What I want to do is take an mpeg and create an iso file so that I don't have to recode in Nero. DVD author does it but now it takes forever. Got to be a faster way. Thanks for the help.

What are you trying to accomplish? An ISO file is just an image of a ISO file system (that can contain anything), so tells us nothing. If a DVD, then the mpeg2 you're feeding TMPGEnc DVD Author must be out of DVD specs, since it seems to be reencoded (or else it'd finish much sooner).

    mats.hogberg,

Mats what I have done is taken an avi and ran it through virtualdub and it says there are no errors. I then reencoded it with tmpgenc to a mpeg2. Should I have made it a mpeg1? Then I tried making an iso file so I dont have to reencode with Nero. I hope this explains what I am trying to do. Thanks again.

  6. But what's your problem with Nero? Does it asks to reencode the file?
Normally I convert my avi files to mpeg2 in Tmpeg and just easy it burn it with Nero. Nowadays I'm testing VCDEasy, but it still uses Nero system to do the burning.

    keckrodrigues,

Nero reencodes the file. Is it not supposed to?

    Thanks

No, not to me, at least. Are you planning on a Video DVD, a SVCD, a VCD or just a data disc?

Mats I don't get why you don't understand what I am doing. I have an mpg that I want to create an iso from. It was created using tmpgenc and I made it is a 352x240. When I open in Nero it wants to set it as 352x480 and everytime I have done that it distorts the movie. I want to skip the recode in nero and just burn an iso which I want to create from an mpg.

Because: an ISO can be anything. Data CD, VCD, SVCD, Video DVD, data DVD to mention a few. But finally I'm clear on that it's a Video DVD you're trying to do...
Try authoring with ifoedit. To do so, just demultiplex audio and video. Make sure the audio is 48 kHz (if not, decode to wav, resample and reencode to AC3/MP2).
IfoEdit can create the Video DVD ISO for you. You can use nero to burn this, but DVDDecrypter works very well for this.
352x240 mpeg1/2 should be a valid DVD video mpeg, but since 2 applications out of 2 wants to reencode, there might be something wierd about it that disqualifies it as DVD Video...
