  1. Using TMPGEnc, I just burned my first DVD of videos of my daughter. During playback, I notice the following issues:

    - When selecting by chapter, when a chapter ends it goes back to the menu - not to the next chapter
    - You have to hit "title" instead of "menu" on my DVD player to bring up the menu
    - I want to delete a couple frames from the end of each chapter (crappy capturing by me) --- can I do this?

Can anyone help this newbie with these issues? Thanks in advance.

  2. Hi and Welcome to the forum.....
    - When selecting by chapter, when a chapter ends it goes back to the menu - not to the next chapter
In DVD Author when you're looking at the "Create Menu" screen click on the button "Display Menu Settings" then look at the tab labeled "General". If you 'hover' your mouse over the drop down list boxes a balloon help will pop-up explaining all the available options. You shoud be able to setup your menu functions to your satifaction easily.
    - You have to hit "title" instead of "menu" on my DVD player to bring up the menu
By setting up the options discribed above should fix this problem for you.
    - I want to delete a couple frames from the end of each chapter (crappy capturing by me) --- can I do this?
On the top bar click "Source Setup" then on the clip you want to edit click it's "Edit" button. This opens up 'Clip Information', at the top click "Chapter Cut Edit" button. You have 'Set as Start Frame' and 'Set as End Frame', Cut, scroll, etc. All the button and gagets you're looking for.

    Good luck.

  3. Thanks for the reply.

I was able to trim the videos from each chapter no problem. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the software can accomodate my other two issues:

    - When selecting by chapter, when a chapter ends it goes back to the menu - not to the next chapter
    - You have to hit "title" instead of "menu" on my DVD player to bring up the menu

Perhaps I'll see what other free trial software I can try out. Anyone have recommendations?

  4. Maybe this is the problem.

If I had 2 movies I wanted to put on a DVD I would create 2 tracks, 1 movie on each track. Each of these movies can be made up of several video files. Each of these video files are handled like chapters. The main idea is to only use 1 track for each movie.

Maybe you are creating a new track for each video file and have the terms confused. If you are only putting one video project onto this DVD (1 movie) then you will want to create only one track. This track would contain all the video clips that make up this movie. You can have as many chapter points as you like, but the program will default by creating a chapter for each inserted clip.

You can setup the menu system to do whatever you want, but you need to have the structure of the disk right or at least understand what these two terms mean to get it to work properly.

    Good luck.
