Trying to get a losses dv capture that I can convert with virtualdub and dvdtosvd. I have windows xp pro and a firewire link. I have tried the following so far:
Windows Movie Maker- DV NTSC can play can't convert even after getting canopus codec and file converter and using.
PIXELA - Bad program ame with camera as two formats mpg1 (poor quality) completely uncompressed dv works but a little hudge.
Powerdirector Pro OEM version - not bad but no lossless compression that I could find.
DVIO - can play can't convert even after getting canopus codec and file converter and using.
Thanks Mark

I haven't used Virtualdub for quite a while now, but I have a feeling that it can only cope with Video for Windows format files. DV transfer is Directshow format,
I think I've seen some mentions of a plugin for Virtualdub and no doubt someone will tell you what you need to know. -
