Is there anyway to view DIVX movie that is only partially do

I use Morpheus to download .avi divx movies and was wondering if it possible to watch the movie before its finished downloading (it's usually in a *.dat format until it completes)

Is there anyway to view these .dat files?

just rename it to "xxx".avi and it should play. i am not sure if divx movies can do that, but i know mpeg can and some avi codecs do not allow it.

There is a divx player called "the playa". That's what I use to see if the quality is cool before I finish with a 700mb download. Just drag the dat file on the playa's screen. wait a sec and bang..... it starts.

you need run divfix on any unfinished divx files to view them (do this to a BACKUP!!!)

I dragged the .dat file onto the playa and nothing happened???

Copy the file to a temp directory. Change the file extension to .avi. Run DivFix on it to re-build the index and then run the file. Bingo !
Only do this to a copy / backup of the file because if you do it to the original you won`t be able to continue the download unless you use DivFix again to strip the index.
