Hi All,
got an mpeg, I first converted this in TMPGEnc to an m2v + mp2. Converted the mp2 to mpa and then run the two files through IFOEdit (Author New DVD) Went to the DVD files and played, no sound what so ever. Went back to the original mpg, sound works fine. went to the mpa and the sound works fine there too. Had this problem with IFOEdit before (AC3 sound) Run the mpg through GSpot but it gave me no details. I then run the mpg through AVS video converter, and converted the mpg to an AVI using the DIVX5 codec. Put the new AVI into TMPGEnc, created 2 seperate files as before, run through IFOEdit, same result, no sound. I then run the new AVI through Virtualdub (and Virtualdubmod) cut a new sound file and new video file. TMPGEnc as before, IFOEdit as before, same result. Have now used Goldwave to create various audio files with different formats, all with the same results.
Can anyone help before I star in HULK 2![]()
Many Thanks For Your Time (if your still here after my epilogue above)

When you play the DVD files, is the volume on the computer DVD player turned up? The player usually has a sound indicator to verify.
Hello. -
I had a problem similar to this (no audio in final VOB's) and it turned out that it was because the video and audio were not being muxed together correctly.
If I recall correctly, the reason they were not muxed correctly was due to the audio stream I provided to the authoring program (I was using DVD-lab).
Having said that, I'm curious why you converted from mp2 to mpa and I'm wondering if the audio conversions are causing your problem? Have you tried authoring in IFOEdit with the original mp2 file?
Can you try a different authoring app (a free trial, perhaps) to see if you get a better result? -
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I only change it to mpa from mp2 because that was what was explained in one of the guides here. However, I have tried using mp2 with the same results. I have now tried wav, mp3, mp2 and mpa all with the same results. I have now converted the AVI to an mpeg 2 and have placed it into Ulead DVD Workshop, using the 'Do not convert compliant files' option and telling Ulead to create DVD files only. That was running when I left for work this morning. Fingers crossed.
Can anyone recomend something other than IFOEdit to author my files, as it seems that IFOEdit cannot do what I normally do. Everything works fine up until I run it through IFOEdit.
Thanks

It would seem that it is not limited to this file, I have now tried several files and end up with the same result. For a test, to make sure that it wasn't my system that was having problems playing the created DVD files, I ripped a purchased DVD. I used exactly the same method to play them back on my system and they worked. So it would appear that IFOEdit, for what ever reason, has stopped converting any of my sound files.
Anyone have any ideas at all?
Many thanks

Further developements.
Just got a new proggy called DVDX (DVD to etc etc) Loaded the DVD files in to the new proggy and it plays sound no problem. To hell with it I thought, I will burn a DVDR just in case it is my system that it playing around. Sadly, no sound. Now I am really confused, sound is clearly there in one piece of software but not another, nor is it burnt with any. I have checked the audio that goes into IFOEdit, and it's mpeg 2 layer 3 which IFOEdit should manage easy.
Any thoughts, anyone?
Thanks
