lg 4040b problem

have a problem with burning dvd+r media. i have tried memorex and maxell dvds. both 2 and 4x. buring dvd-r is no problem. i also tried 3 different firmware (A300, A301, A302) and still can't burn to dvd+r. can someone help!?

Sorry....mine burns both with no problems....with the old A300 firmware. I use Ritek discs almost exclusively though.

this is strange, nero loves to burn -r but not +r. i tried clonedvd and burns +r really good! wonder why when nero burns on +r it says unformatted dvd

i havent tried them but I hear bad things about memorex disks. But some people like them well enough with the LG. Try to find ritek 04, I only here good things there.

I have a 4040N stock with this laptop and it works fine. Maybe it's your drive?

4040 with A302 burn Memerox (CMC) 4x -R and +R without any problem with Nero 6.3.0.0, all play fine with my Apex 1500

I have a 4040B and have no problem burning 4x+ or -. Ok with firmware A301 & A302, Nero 5.5.10.54, -RitekG04 and +TDK.

hmm, do you think it might be my drive?

the burner came with A301 firmware. when i read the txt file with the A302 it said to leave it on 2nd master, alone. thats what i did. it also said the update button should be green, but mine was red.....i dunno.....do you think my dvd writer is screwed?

I had all sorts of problems with +R media until I updated my Nero from version 6.0.0.0 to 6.0.0.23. I read on a forum somewhere about Nero not finalizing +R media right in some cases. I could burn a +R disk just fine, it would verify the data just fine. Playing would not work in anything. It would just tell me something about bad media. This forum mentioned something about 6.0.0.0 Nero having the problem.

Like I said before, in some cases 6.0.0.0 caused a problem. Version 6.0.0.23 fixed my problem, it may or may not help you.

alright, my friend let me borrow 4 mitsumi (AN32) dvd-r at 4x. i burned 1 successfully at 2x and the rest are coasters. nero wouldn't let me burn on 4x.

no i tried the memorex dvd-r 2x that always works on mine.....coaster again. i dont know what the hell is up with this drive
