I successfully burned a 1 hour 40 minute movie I captured from my Tivo to DVD. The DVD looks reasonably good, but there are a couple of issues that I'm hoping I can get some advice and/or confirmation on:
1. In areas where there are black, night (sky) scenes, dark clothing, etc, pixelation or pixel noise is fairly evident.
2. Also, there is a slight jerkiness/blurring during scenes with lots of motion. I wonder if this will be more of a problem in action movie captures.
I captured with Virtualdub, MPEG-2 and encoded with TMPGEnc using CBR with a bit rate of 5700. I tried VBR but the file constantly finishing at 5+ Gigs. CBR put me right at 4.3 Gigs.
Is the pixelation, blurring, jerkiness I'm experiencing a result of the CBR bit rate? Or, is there something else I did wrong or not adjust properly.
Finally, would it be best to encode with VBR, send the project output to DVD and compress with DVDShrink?
I'm very happy with the outcome of my first rip/burn. Any suggestions on tweaks I can make would be greatly appreciated.
