I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on what the best Mpeg2 editing software was, and why.

I use a combination of Premiere 6, Womble Mpeg VCR and TMPEG to cut, join and edit out pieces of mpeg 2. Womble is pretty good at transitions etc... Bottomline is the very nature of GOP 15 IBP video means good compression but bad frame accurate editing. Matrox captures Mpeg2 for editing in I frame only. You will save yourself alot of headaches, video noise and audio sync problems if you keep mpeg editing to an absolute minimum. In a perfect world we would all capture uncompressed and output in HDTV Mpeg2 (ATSC) in realtime on our battery powered Compaq IPAQs. Don't hold your breath.
