  1. Hi everyone -

True newbie question - what are the advantages of DVD Shrink over DVD Decrypter? What are the advantages of DVD Decrypter over DVD Shrink?

For my current purposes, I am trying to copy my friend's wedding DVD for 10 other people, but we don't have the original footage available, just a burned DVD (~3.5 gigs). From what I've read, DVD Decrypter would be better for me since it just makes a direct copy to the HD which I can burn as many copies as I need. In comparison, I've been playing with DVD Shrink tonight and it seems like it has to encode the original information each time it burns to a DVD.

    I'm currently using DVD Shrink/Nero/NEC 1300a, burning to DVD+Rs.

    Thanks!

  2. dvd shrink shouldn't compress if less than 4.7mb
but i would use dvd decryptor, use it to make an iso image, then use it to burn

I use DVDShrink. If for some reason DVDShrink fails to rip I use DVD decrypter. For your project, that doesn't require any compression, I would use DVD Decrypter in file mode with all files checked. Copy to hard drive. I use nero 6 so I would burn 1 dvd after another untill done. You can burn with DVD Decrypter under win xp and win 2k.

in your case, both of them would do the exact same thing: copy all files to hard drive and then burn (yes, shrink can burn if you have NERO, if not then use another program).

but basically, both programs can copy the DVD to your hard drive.

  5. DVD decryptor. Mode>iso>read. mode>iso>write. Done. No ned to rip files or use nero. If you wish though you can burn the iso with any burning software you wish.

  6. Is there a way to rip just the main movie and the selected audio track with DVD Decrypter? All the guides I found said to select all files while ripping? Just curious. TIA
