  1. Hi ... I bought the DMR-E80H to copy my VHS tapes to DVD ... but when I connect my vcr to the E80 the tint seems to blip every 10 seconds or so - mostly noticeable on people's skin tones -- it is as if their skin suddenly turns green for a second and then back to normal. If I connect the VCR directly into the TV this problem does not occur ... These are not store bought VHS movies, but programs I have recorded off TV and the like. I have tried using all different types of composite connectors (gold-plated etc.) but still have this problem.

    Any Suggestions????

  2. scaper,

Try a different VCR! Borrow one, buy one (take it back if it's not the ticket), or do whatever it takes, and see if it's just some quirk between your VCR and your E80H.....

  3. I've just recently noticed this behavior as well using a DuelDeck GoVideo VCR. For the moment, in my limited testing, it appears to not affect videos which where recorded PRIOR to hooking up the Panny. So far, I've only tested two tapes containing shows I've recorded on the VCR since the Panny has been attached, and both seem to be affected by this problem. The picture appears fine when viewed via the TV only, however, when viewed through L1 (my setting for the VCR) the tinting is readily apparent and as mentioned by the original poster is very noticeable in regard to fluctuation of skin tones. Oddly enough, last evening while suffering through this irritation, the fluctuations evaporated after about 20 minutes or so and the coloring then appeared stable throughout the duration of the recording?? If anyone else has experienced this recently and found a way of overcoming it your post would be most welcome.

Edit: I've done a little further testing, and it appears this issue is still present, albeit on an inconsistant basis, with material recorded before attaching the Panny. Additionally, after doing a search on AVS Forums, it seems we aren't the only one's to experience this particular issue. From my reading there, it does indeed appear to be somewhat related to the specific VCR attached and how the unit interacts with the Panny's built in TBC for enhancement of vhs tapes. It also seems to be present regardless of whether one uses composite or S-Video cables since the Panny's TBC is in work for both. If anyone has a simple solution for this, I'd love to hear it as I certainly am not looking to discard my GoVideo macrokiller and purchase another unit simply to work around this issue.
What exactly is rotten in Denmark?
