Anyone buy a color laser printer lately?

I have a Lexmark C534n that I got brand new a couple years ago. It retailed for about $700 or so and I ended up paying NINE dollars for it...I can tell that story later.

The thing is my toners are finally dying...at about $175 a pop for a high yield toner (5 toners) that is insanely high $$$.

So the way I see it, it's better to just buy a whole new printer.

I know they are much cheaper now than a couple years ago...

    Anyone bought one recently...comments suggestions?

Well, since noone chimed in on this...I will answer it myself, maybe someone else needs a new printer as well.

Staples has the exact same printer I have now on sale for $200 and free shipping.

The printer sales for $700 and is $500 off...still listed for $764.23 on Amazon.

This sale is good until 4-29-09

Whole new printer with 4 fresh toners for just a little more than a single toner.
I have had great luck with this printer...2 of them so far for a total of approx $230!!!

Laser printers come with 4 smaller-than-low-capacity "trial size" toner carts most times. The high capacity carts are often 3-10x more toner.

    Buy your toner from www.NextWarehouse.com
Use Pricegrabber to find the best price (usually NW).
Also see about coupons, good for OfficeMax, Office Depot or Staples. Many of them only exclude HP toner, not other toner carts. Either in-store and/or online coupons.

CDW sometimes has good toner deals too, thought NW is usually better.

One of the colors was running low on my HP color 2600N printer. I did similar research and found that if I purchased all 4 toner cartridges it would be the same price as buying a new printer. I tried to win a set of new cartridges on eBay but was always outbid.

I ended up purchasing a "4 color (CMYK) toner refill kit" and a toner cartridge hole making tool, off the internet, for $90. The toner bottles contained high capacity toner. The refill process went well (replace the toner cartridge chip, too) and I was very pleased with the result. I've since refilled another one of the color toner cartridges and it went even better since I had the refill process down pat.

I've refilled a couple of ink cartridges with mixed results (they tend to leak) but I've had no problem refilling toner cartridges.

Heh...I didn't know you could refill toners...I will have to keep that in mind for the future. Where did you buy the kit?
