  1. I just got a Ledtek tv tuner and I want to capture some shows and burn them to dvd. Do I have to author each one? I would assume that I need to use the DVD Video or Direct Burn to DVD? Thanks!!!

    gplracer,
from your question it would seem that you are fairly new to creating DVDs. If so, there are a number of very guides that can be found on the left part of the screen in the green area.
In a very basic sense, the steps that you will need are: to "capture" your video and audio (most generally software requried but not always). If you capture directly to mpeg2 and 48Khz then you will need to "author" the capture data (this requires software as well) otherwise you will need some software to convert from your captured format to MPEG2 (again software required) before "authoring." Lastly, you will need to "burn" your captured and authored data (again this requires software).

There are many different choices for each of the different software solutions. Each with its own peculiar capabilities and "features." Again each is described in great detail over on the left side panels.

To make it easier, I suggest capturing directly to Mpeg2. Either use 720x480 @ 6000Mbps for captures under 2 hours. If I want several hours, use 352x480 @ 3000MBps. 720x480 will not look good at 3000Mbps but 352x480 does (the lower the resolution the lower the bit rate that is needed to produce a good quality mpeg).

After you have your mpeg you have to author it to DVD standards. There are many authoring programs out there and many guides for them on this site (look to your left). I personally use Ulead DVD Workshop for most of my authoring needs. For a newbie like you, I suggest trying Ulead Movie Factory 2.

    Good Luck :P
