Have you updated to the latest drivers from their website?
It's possible that 512MB on your system is insufficient to perform a video capture -
Well the thing is that It did work once before
Ill try updating the drivers but I need more soulutions -
Do your video settings (not the TV settings) match the input you are using......composite or S-Video?
Is the break-out box plug fully seated in the back of the card?
In TV mode, does it tune all the channels with analog cable or amplified antenna attached?
MV corrupted input will give you immediate video scramble and audio static. -
All are good\
The thing is it was working before
when im capturing video I can get video and audio good when I capture using composite or s-video it either freezes or goes blank for a bit then shows the Power Cinema logo where the video is supposed to be, it does nothing after that but show the logo -
Well I'm now at one of the PC's with an ATI Wonder Elite remote control edition and Power Cinema ATI version 3.0 installed. Now using device driver 6.14.10.226.
It's been a while since doing video capture from this PC. Home movies have all been converted using this card, so it's mostly used by the kids for recording TV. Just tried a capture via VCR using both composite and S-Video inputs and all is well.
Videos>Capture Videos takes you to the Captured Video window. From there you select Composite or S-Video by clicking on the appropriate button; composite by default. From this window >Settings.....select the Video Quality (better equals about 1 Hr 34 Min per DVD and is as good as TV or VHS gets).....Analog Audio Input should be line in......Clicking on the button on the right side of the Captured video folder should show you the full path to said folder. Make sure that folder hasn't been deleted or thrown into a loop via multiple mountings in other drives or partitions. If the folder's OK, delete or move the contents elsewhere and try again.
If that doesn't work, you need to unistall the device under Device Manager and all its software including ATI WDM drivers under Add or Remove Programs. Then run the ATI uninstallAll utility (try C/Program Files/Ati Technologies). Shut down the PC, remove the Tuner Card, Boot up (if you have ATI on board graphics the drivers will be reinstalled) and then shut down. Reinstall the TV Card and software just as you did the first time, but this time DO NOT remove the installation disk when directed to by the installer.....leave it in the drive and reboot.
Set-up the card and see if you can update to the driver listed above. -
Hmmm, I tried this power cinema still doesnt work
but I couldnt find the updated driver
Do you have a direct link? -
No I don't have a direct link, but I do have several folders containing 550 Pro drivers I have downloaded on this computer at different dates. I can find the installer for 6.14.10.225 (ATI 7-1_xp_T550_wdm_40211.exe) and the installer for 6.14.10.232 (ATI 7-4_XP32-64_T550_wdm_44981.exe).
6.14.10.232 is the last driver I used on this PC before moving the card....only problem I remember was losing the channels and not being able to recover them with a rescan. Had to go thru the process described in my previous post to get it going again. Never did figure out what caused it.
ATI (now part of AMD) has a strange way of listing drivers. Sometimes they show you the number and sometimes they dont. Hell, I had two versions of 6.14.10.225 and deleted the earliest dated one because it would not install.
I have other drivers that were listed as 550 Pro and 650 Pro, but never did mess with them.
I'll take a look see on another PC and see if I can find the installer for 6.14.10.226. I have used this driver with both Power Cinema 2.0 and 3.0 on Athlon 64 motherboards using SIS and AMD chipsets and had no problems.
One question. In Power Cinema, Can you play back previous successful captures? -
Here's the link for the previous drivers from AMD:
I see "my" 6.14.10.232 is still available, although when I downloaded it, it was listed as a 550 Pro only driver. The other two items shown with the driver download do not apply to Power Cinema....do not try to use them.
Later! -
I found the 6.14.10.226 Driver in a folder mislabeled as 6.14.10.225; the installer is ATI 7-1_xp_t550_wdm_40211.exe. The size is about 4.5 MB.
Another good one is 6.14.10.134; installer ATI 6-3_XP_t550_wdm_30895.exe. About 4MB.
PM me and I'll try sending one at a time. -
Neither of them seemed to do anything.
Power Cinema still will not capture video, I get video and sound its just it wont capture it.
I guess its an issue with Power Cinema -
Have you tried capturing from a video source that you know is free of any kind of copy protection, such as a VHS home movie or better yet, standard analog cable TV channels tuned via a VCR?
Are you using Power Cinema 3.0 from the ATI installation Disk, or are you using Power Cinema 2.0 from Installation Disk and then updating to 3.0 with a download from ATI?
Custom install or standard install? Guide plus doesn't work and can mess up the installation, Parental Control can mess it up too, so it's best to do a custom install and uncheck those items.
Do you have anti-virus software installed? Best to completly remove it before installing Power Cinema and updating drivers.
What graphics are you using.....onboard, PCI, AGP, etc......intel, ATI, etc? Surprisingly, ATI graphics, if updated beyond what first came with them, cause the most conflicts with this card
What chipset(s) and BIOS on the motherboard?
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
You could have a hardware problem with the card or a problem with Power Cinema and the ATI drivers. I am no computer whiz and have found it damn hard to straighten out Power Cinema 3.0 once it's messed up........and some times, depending on the PC, it's messed up from the get-go by Guide Plus or Parental Control. I wish I would have remembered about omitting those two items with a custom install.
How much trouble to do a clean install of the operating system (removing all anti-virus that may be re-installed) and starting over?
