CLARK AND LANA TRY TO KILL CHLOE - Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) each make an attempt on Chloe’s (Allison Mack) life for unknown reasons after they receive a mysterious e-mail from the Sommerholt Institute. Clark must discover the source of these e-mails after Chloe reveals she has uncovered proof that they are doing mind-control research at the lab and realizes they must be trying to kill her in order to prevent her from writing an expose. Meanwhile, Lana decides to rent the apartment above the café to Adam (guest star Ian Somerhalder) even though she feels he is hiding something dangerous about his past.

* Lex has a "stark, new office."
* Lex meets a LuthorCorp temp from the tech department named Molly, though she suggests "Would you rather have a PlayStation-addicted dork wearing a Star Wars t-shirt?" No comment...
* Whatever document Lex was working on that froze has been saved.
* Lex makes a comment about how he "used to" run the plant.
* Max Taylor, a "young but streetwise reporter" for the Daily Planet, appears. But isn't he the editor of the paper? And didn't he appear in the Verizon promos?
* Max is angry that Chloe has managed to get herself into his office, and makes a reference to "if you want to chase after red-eyed aliens, that's your prerogative. I've got a deadline."
* Apparently Chloe's made someone at the paper mad, and "if anyone sees you in this office, I'm fired."
* Chloe wants to print an article on the Summerholt Institute that she's done her homework on, but Max will only do it if she uses a pseudonym. She turns in a name, that she tells Max is her cousin's name. "She won't mind," Chloe says. Yes, you read it here first - Chloe Sullivan calls herself by *that* name!
* Lex finds out that there was no such IT tech person as "Molly." In the same room as this Luthorcorp techie is a stack of boxes that says "Smallville High Torch" - one of which is opened.
* Max Taylor is attacked in front of Chloe. We could tell you by whom and how it happens, but we'd still like to leave some suspense in the episode for you.
