Problem burning DVD+R discs with Sony DRU-530A

Hi All,

Before I get on phone with Sony technical support, I am hoping for some feedback and opinions about my problem.

I recently purchased my first DVD burner, a Sony DRU-530A and have not been successful in burning Sony DVD+R discs. Interestly, I can burn Sony DVD+RW discs also well as burning CD+RWs, CR+Rs, and Audio CDs.

I have latest firmware 1.0c applied and am running Windows XP w/ SP1.
I attempted to burn the DVD+R using both Sonic MyDVD 5.2 and RecordNow! 6.7. I've also ran Sony's DriveCheck 2.01 and it claims the drive is working properly, even burning and "successfully" reading a DVD+R disc. But once completed, the drive could not read the disc.

Anyone had an similar experiences??

Update:

After finally getting through to Sony technical support, they deemed the drive to have a problem and opened a RMA for returning the drive. No surprise at this point. Technician indicated they probably would just send another drive as replacement.
