  1. I'm trying to capture video from my Tivo using my Pinnacle PCTV card and Virtual VCR. I've tried using Huffyuv 2.1 and MJPEG compression. I am trying to capture in 720 x 480 (Custom Settings) resolution because I get a message saying "this Format not available" when trying to set the Video Capture Pin Properties under the "Devices" tab.

The problem is that VirtualVCR crashes within 4 minutes after I start any capture, no matter which compression I use. I can't understand why this is happening. I'm running Windows XP, 512 MB RAM. Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz, 80 GB hard drive. I've closed down all other programs running, including my Norton Antivirus and VirtualVCR still crashes.

Has anyone run into this? Does anyone have any solutions? Any information is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. What driver are you using for the card. I use this one:
    btwincap.sourceforge.net

  3. I didn't know about this driver at all. I just downloaded and installed it. I'm capturing now. Hopefully things will work now. THANKS!

  4. Okay, so the crashing problem has been resolved. Now I'm dropping a t on of frames in each capture and the audio and video are out of sync. The audio also slows down a lot as it progresses through the cap. Does my system not have enough power to do a capture? I'm experiencing a lot of frame drops using both HuffyUV and MJPEG. Again, any additional information is appreciated. I experience this problem in VCD and DVD capture modes.

I defragged my hard drive as well. Would a hardware based capture solution be better for what I'm trying to do?

  5. You should not be dropping frmaes with that setup. How much other stuff do you do when capturing? Anything? Try another capture program too.
