  1. Hi All,

Does anyone knows of any tool to find and fix/cut freeze frames for rm and mpg files the way VirtualDub does for avi files?

VDub doesn't supports rm files. For mpg, VDub scanned and the badframes.log reports none and yet there are freeze frames on the video clip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Video Fixer can handle Real Media. You can find it here. But it's not freeware, and it's not cheap.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply.

I do have and did use Video Fix on the rm file. It checked, found error, and fixed (or so it said) my file. However, the video playback still freezes at the same spot. If I click the slider forward, it would continue to play but would then freezes again at some further frames. So Video Fix pretty much didn't do any good to my video.

Btw, I plan to use Real7ime Converter (R7C) to extract the audio to a wave file then use TMPGenc to encode the rm and wave file to a new mpg file. It's my first time using R7C and I must be doing something wrong because after I unzipped and run R7C.exe, a

'R7C.exe - Unable To Locate Component' message box comes up saying 'This application has failed to start because CTL3D32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.'

But the instructions said there is no installation required. Just unzip and run R7C. So does anyone has any idea what am I doing wrong here? Again, your help is greatly appreciated.

I can't help you with R7C but EO Video will extract RM audio to wav. It can also convert to mpeg but you're better off using TMPGEnc. I tried it with EO Video and got a really choppy frame rate that didn't match the audio.

  5. Thanks but I did tried with EO Video. Either when I convert the rm file to wav or to mpg, EO would just stop at the first corrupted/freeze frame. So the only way I can think of is to find a tool that will cut away the freeze frames. Does anyone knows of a took that can cut rm files? Thanks again for any help.
