    Hi,

I've been backing up dvd's for a few years now decrypting (using DVD Fab HD Decrypter lately) and burning using Nero Recode (Nero 7) without problems. I've always used TDK dvd-r's without issue and I generally only recode the main movie to dvd-r. Lately on movies such as "The Kingdom", "American Gangster", & "3:10 to Yuma" I'm experiencing lot's of stutter, pixelizing, & freeze ups on playback no matter what dvd player I play back on. Could this be a bad batch of dvd-r discs? Is it Recode? The decrypting process completes without error. I'm puzzled.

I'm not a newbie but I'm certainly not an expert either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Your problem is the TDK dvd media that you're using. Long ago TDK dvd media was excellent to use but they outsource now to CMC which manufactures it for them. Quite simply TDK media is crappy now. Use VERBATIM or TAIYO YUDEN dvd media. Also use IMGBURN to burn your dvd media. NERO is so buggy as hell.

    Thanks budz.

Is it the burn portion of Nero that is bad or recode? Can I use Recode to write an image and then use IMGBURN or should I just stay away from Nero altogether? I've used Nero for a few years without problems but why problems now? Just wondering...

I tried some different dvd-r's I had (HP lightscribe) but I got the same result...

HP media is also CMC. Both brands you used were still CMC discs. You're using junk for discs. Sorry.

Buy Verbatim in stores, or Taiyo Yuden online.

Bought some Verbatim dvd-r's today and used the same process that I've been using (Nero Recode and burn). The Kingdom played back flawlessly, thanks!...

That's really disappointing about the TDK discs, I really liked them. Not that it'll make a difference but I'm going to contact them and let them know making a decision to go cheap was a decision to lose a loyal customer...
