I have a Plextor 708a DVD burner. With Nero 6 this burner will see "Quality" 4x blanks and burn them at 8x. Sometimes the burn will be perfect sometimes I will get "choppy" video on Backup copy. I am wondering if anyone has used the new "True" 8x DVD disks to burn DVD movie backups. If so,do you get consistent backups burning at 8x with these "True" 8x blanks?
Thanks

I'd like to hear some other input from here on this issue of only burning DVD's at 1X. -
I also have the Plextor 708a and have burned about 20 backups since I received it for Christmas. As recommended by Plextor, I am using Verbatim 4X media and burning at 8X with Nero 5.5.10.28. The recommended media list is at

Formerly I used the Sony AX500 at 4X. So far I can't tell the difference on my 84" DLP projector.
I can't prove or disprove a quality difference does or doesn't exist but I'm willing to trust technology (and my eyes) for the time being. Using 1X logic would imply we should all scrap our 52X CD burners and return to the 2X days of 10 years ago.
