  1. Is there a way to stop that annoying freezeing that happens when the scenes change.

Im recording my shows I taped on video onto dvd. Im recording in Dolby Dig. I then cut out the commercials and then place a chapter marker at all the comercal spots. Now when I play back the show on the recorders HDD there is no Noticable freezing. But when I transfer to DVD-R then watch it freezes for about a sec at the start of each chapter!

Dose any one know a good way around this? it also freezes when I play the DVD-R on my other normal DVD player!

    Thanks for the time!

I have a DMR-HS2, and my settings are:

    Hybrid VBR Resolution: Fixed
    Still Mode: Automatic

If you are going to transfer from the standalone to the PC, then you would want to used Fixed. This will prevent future headaches.

Recording at XP or SP should lesson the blocks in the black area. I don't know of any other settings that will, as I don't have your model. But, there maybe for you.

  3. Just to let you know what I learned in different post.

When you export from ram using some software, it will break up into seperate mpg files because its mixed resolution within the same vro file. I record in fixed only, so it stays 704x480 but it always encodes using VBR.

  4. So to maintain top quality at all times I should put it on Fixed?

I would say to maintain the best compatibility in the future when transfering video to the PC, change the setting to "Fixed".

The setting only refers to the resolution. This will not decrease the quality any, the encoding will still be done in VBR mode.
