  1. I have been copying a DVD with Nero. It's 4 gigs of a home party I made. When I do a copy I lose space on my hard drive. I tried to make a copy just now to see if I was losing my mind. Before the copy I had 8 gigs free on my C Drive, after the copy and even a Reboot I have 4 gigs free. Why is this happenening? Is Nero forgetting to delete the temp file it makes? I have searched the drive High and Low looking for the temp file, but is nowhere to be found. I cant even make another copy now because i dont have enough space on my drive. 2 days a go I had 12 gigs free. Anyone have any ideas? I am using Nero 6, I can't even find an option to check delete temp file after creation. I even did a Hard Drive search for any files created in the last 24 hours and Still can't find the culprits? I am losing my mind! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks All

Go To File > Preferences > Cache. The path in the "Path for Cahce" section is where the files are.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. I have done that, and there is no large files left in that spot at all. My drive still is down to about 4 gigs free when I had 8 a few hours ago. Something weird is going on. I can not find any trace of the files, but I know it has to be from nero. Everytime I use it to copy a DVD I lose about 4 gigs of space.

  4. Looks like you're going to have to find it the hard way. Start in each directory under the drive and look at the size under properties. All of these files should be hiding in the same spot so once you find a directory thats huge under your main drive then check the sizes in all of the directories under that. I've had to do this when I've created some movies with Ulead. They bury the temp files under so much stuff that it makes them hard to find, however nero doesn't normally do this. Good luck!

Easier than Smiley's method, do a seach for *.* and use the "advanced" tab to limit results to files over 10000 KB.

Do you have Norton Antivirus installed on your system? I do and when I delete a movie folder after backing up, Norton likes to stick them in its protected files. I just noticed this the other day. I was missing like almost 10 gigs on my drive. Then by accident I happened to notice the VOB files I deleted were in nortons protected files list. Deleted them and they are gone now.

Is it possible that you don't have "Show hidden and system files" turned on, therefore when looking in Nero's temp directory you cannot see the files ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. Yeah, turn on View Hidden Files or why not just search your HD with the search button for files larger than 1 gig.

BTW, Restore uses 12% of your HD space. You can change that though.

  10. Thanks guys I had already tried ALL of those suggestions already. The files were nowhere to be found, but... It was norton! It was holding up Neros deleted files in the protected recycke bin. Great call !
